Quarter Souls Tree Harvest
Dec. 5, 5:30-8:00 pm Seventh and eighth-graders are invited to join the Youth Director and Advisors for dinner, before we go harvest the church Christmas tree for Emerson Hall in preparation for the Hanging of the Greens and Tree Trimming party on Friday, Dec. 7.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service
Dec. 24, 4:30, 6:00 and 7:30 pm services. Youth serve as ushers for these special family services. Sign up and attendance at rehearsal (5:30 pm, Dec. 19) is required.
Quarter Souls Lock-Out
Dec. 26, 6:00 pm until midnight The Quarter Souls Holiday Lock-out includes six hours of late-night fUUn out on the town for Registered 7th and 8th-graders. All Souls Church bus stops include dinner, Laser Quest, Starbucks, Fun & Games and the Center of the Universe!
YRUU Broomball Lock-In
Dec. 28-29, 6:00 pm Friday until 10:00 am Saturday Ninth through 12th grade Registered Youth come together to socialize, cook, exchange gifts, play broomball, worship and try to get a little sleep at this all-night church lock-in.
Youth Sunday March 9, 10:00 am and 11:30 am Worship Services This is an inspiring day when Youth lead both Worship Services in the Sanctuary. Seniors are encouraged to write and deliver sermons, and all Youth grades 10-12 are encouraged to help with the music, banner, prayers and readings, decorating the chancel, and creating the order of service. Attendance at planning sessions (Wednesday nights beginning in January) is required.
Boston PilgrimageMarch 15-18, 2008/Spring Break This Coming of Age trip is an opportunity to bring to life our Unitarian Universalist history on a heritage tour. Ninth graders will see Emerson’s books, Thoreau’s pond and Channing’s pulpit. In short, they get a sense of the big picture of American history of which Unitarians and Universalists are such a tremendous part.
COMING OF AGE SERVICEApril 27, 10:00 am This is thee culmination of the Coming of Age program, when youth deliver their credo statements to the congregation.
SENIOR SPIRIT QUUESTMay 29-June 1, 2008 Just graduated seniors will participate in the second annual high-adventure Spirit qUUest that includes outdoor adventure and rituals created to help them discover their inner strengths as they prepare to leave home.
SUMMER SOCIAL ACTION PROJECTJuly 2008 The All Souls Youth Summer Social Action Project is an extended weekend of education, service, and fellowship. Previous projects have included "Viva la FINCA" to start a micro-lending bank in Mexico; the Cherokee Nation Etchieson Memorial United Methodist Church; and REPAiRelATIONS, race relations and anti-oppression work. Plans are underway for 2008.
FLOAT TRIPJune 2008 Every summer, Registered Youth are invited to camp out and float the Illinois River.
